Pencil Hardness Test

Purpose of Test:

To evaluate the film hardness of an organic coated steel sheet.

Non cured organic coated film has lower pencil hardness and will be damaged even at softer pencil leads

A set of calibrated drawings leads following scale of hardness:

6B – 5B – 4B – 3B – 2B – B – HB – F – H – 2H – 3H – 4H – 5H – 6H
Softer                                               Harder

Device/Machine: Pencil Leads.

Approximate  Test Duration:

o  Sample preparation and Test time: 30 minutes
