Lead in Paint Test
Purpose of Test:
Lead is used to give the paint its tint. Lead pigments are extremely opaque; therefore, a relatively small amount of the compound can cover a large area.
Some types of lead are insoluble in water, making the paint highly water-resistant.
However, lead is a known toxin which can cause a wide variety of health risks; from vomiting to madness to death.
The maximum safe limit for the amount of lead in paint is (90 mg/kg).
Inductive coupled plasma (ICP) is considered one of the most accurate method for measuring the lead level in paint.
