Tensile Test
Purpose of Test:
To provide information on the strength and ductility of Metallic and Organic coated steel sheet under uniaxial tensile stresses.
The yield strength, tensile strength, and percentage elongation are measured.
Yield Strength (YS) – The engineering stress at which, by convention, it is considered that plastic elongation of the material has commenced.
Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) – The maximum tensile stress that a material is capable of sustaining.
Elongation after fracture (%El): The elongation measured on marked gauge length by fitting the two halves of the broken specimen together.
